Grand Theft Auto games have a long tradition of a fold-out map in the box. For GTA VI, Rockstar is offering the map and cover art as an official printable download instead, plus a separate physical poster. This guide sets out exactly what Rockstar has said, where to get the official files, and what to expect if you print them yourself.
What Rockstar announced on 3 November 2026
In its 3 November 2026 Newswire announcement, Rockstar Games said that on 19 November it will add an official printable Grand Theft Auto VI cover art poster and map of Leonida as a free digital download to its official site.
Rockstar also said a double-sided physical version of the poster will be made available shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store, for $0.99 on its own or as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase. At the time of writing, Rockstar has not published an exact on-sale date, print size or shipping details for the physical poster.
Read the announcement on the Rockstar Newswire and find the official files on the GTA VI Artwork & Downloads page. Until 19 November, the printable map and cover art will not be there yet, so treat any "leaked" or early versions elsewhere with caution.
A3, A2 or A1: which size suits a map?
A3 (297 × 420 mm): a compact desk or shelf print. Fine for cover art; dense map labels may become small.
A2 (420 × 594 mm): a good balance for a bedroom or games-room wall, with more room for map detail to stay readable.
A1 (594 × 841 mm): a feature-wall size. Only worth choosing if the source file has enough resolution to hold detail this large.
Full measurements are in our Poster Size Guide.
File resolution and map legibility
Maps are less forgiving than character art. Street names, icons and small labels blur quickly if the file is enlarged beyond what it was made for. As a guide, around 150 DPI at the final size is a sensible minimum for wall viewing, and higher is better for maps you will read up close.
Before choosing a size, check the pixel dimensions of the file you downloaded and run them through the Poster DPI Calculator. If A1 comes out low, a sharp A2 will usually look better than a soft A1.
Image formats and PDF printing
Use the highest-quality file the official source provides. PDF, PNG and high-quality JPG all print well; avoid screenshots, social media re-uploads or compressed copies, which lose detail.
If the download is a PDF, keep it at its original size rather than exporting a small preview. If you are printing at home, choose "actual size" or "fit to page" deliberately and check the paper size matches the file's shape. Our Artwork Help page covers formats, colour and safe areas in more detail.
Cropping and quality limitations
A-sizes share one shape (roughly 1 : 1.414). If an official file uses a different aspect ratio, printing it at A3, A2 or A1 means either cropping the edges or leaving white borders. On a map, cropping can remove coastline or labels near the edge, so borders are often the safer choice.
The Poster Resizer shows how much would be cropped, or how wide the borders would be, at each size. No printer can add detail that is not in the original file.
Printing rights: what a free download does and does not mean
Rockstar making a file free to download does not automatically give permission for anyone else to reproduce it for sale. GTA VI artwork, the map and Rockstar logos remain Rockstar's intellectual property, and any use is governed by Rockstar's own terms.
For that reason, PostersPosted does not host, sell or mock up GTA VI artwork. Our upload service is for artwork you own or are authorised to reproduce. If you want an official physical poster, the Rockstar Store version is the authorised route.
